Thursday: Learning about Colima

Happy Thursday! Today we dedicated time to learning more about this beautiful state of Colima. Many of us have been to Hogar de Amor several times, but often we don't get to visit beyond the orphanage and a few restaurants - which are all great places to visit, but they definitely don't do justice to this amazing area! So today we set aside a few hours to learn more about the city and state of Colima (and we had a great time doing it!).
One big happy team and a volcano!
Another cool volcano view
Passing a sugar truck on the way back
Visiting a local indigenous mask maker (I promise, we really did learn stuff)

We also got to spend a lot of great time with the kids. We had a blast with our fourth round of crafts, sports, and songs.
Red light, green light is a big hit
Waiting for that green light...

Playing fun music games
We bring corn hole to Mexico

And we finished our week's activities in fine style with Easter egg hunts! Egg hunts aren't really a thing in Mexico, so it's fun to bring a novel US tradition down to Mexico with us.

Amazing ladies from the Ibarras' church in Minnesota sent hand-knitted bears for the Casa Cuna kids. They were a big hit.
The bears were super popular!
On to the egg hunt!
Hmm... I think we figured out where all the eggs went...
Little kids hunting eggs is just the cutest!
The Ibarras also brought letters for each kid written by kids in Minnesota about their age
The kids loved seeing letters and pictures from kids in the U.S.
They definitely had fun getting letters written just for them!
The "field" is ready for the Easter egg hunt!
And pandemonium ensues

Tomorrow we're doing work of a different kind - we're hosting a pool party for 90+ kids! Whoa! Please pray with us that we finish the week well, that we invest a lot of time and energy in our relationships with the kids, and that we all have a super great time making happy memories for all.
