About the Trip

The Hogar de Amor y Protección al Niño is a ministry of the Grupo Amor church in Colima, Mexico. Hogar de Amor actively seeks to protect and care for local vulnerable children in partnership with the government of Mexico.

The Hogar de Amor orphanages provide a home for approximately 200 children ranging in age from infants to teens. They continue to provide a home and support for those teens that want to pursue post-secondary school education. You can learn more about Hogar de Amor at http://www.hogardeamor.org/en/home

Since 2013, CenterPoint Church in Orem, Utah has sent a team of workers and hundreds of pounds of donations each year to Hogar de Amor. Teams spend one week serving the orphans and caregivers of Hogar de Amor by painting, repairing, and working in the orphanage buildings to try and make them as comfortable and functional as possible. Teams also spend time every day doing crafts, songs, and other activities with the children to clearly communicate love and care for them.

The trip is organized as a family work trip to enable team members of all ages and skillsets to meaningfully participate in international service.
