Week two, first day of work
Our first day of work started off with an hour of interacting with the kids. We had three activities running concurrently: crafts, music and sports. Dividing active kids into three groups helped channel the energy. After 20 minutes, the groups rotated so that each child participated in all three activities.
Crafts: Name tags are an important activity, - we need help remembering 150 names!
Music: Today was a combination of songs - “Head, shoulders, knees and toes” plus baby shark, and a game called stomp on each other’s balloons. Well, that’s not the name, but that is what they do.
Sports: Fill the bottle on your teammate’s head, jump rope and tug of war.
Then the kids finished chores, ate lunch and headed to school. The team has several projects for the week.
Sewing: Making waterproof mattress covers for the infant and toddlers and sewing several sets of curtains.
Painting: Cassa Leonel is getting transformed from green to sunshine.
Plumbing and general maintenance: mostly repairing sinks and toilets and replacing outlets. Today a higher priority was placed on adding new clotheslines.
The evening meal was a “market meal” which means we purchase ham and cheese and chips and guacamole and to eat on the hotel porch, not a bad way to finish a busy day.
