Tuesday Week Two, second day of work and activities with kids.

 By Harvey’s and Torgerson’s

We started with breakfast in the hotel cafe, more coffee please! Jamie’s Birthday was celebrated all day with cards, gifts, singing and cake.

Each day we start with a devotional and reflection. Tuesday we talked about any moments of frustration, sadness we have experienced, and how these have changed our perspective about these kids and how we can live our lives differently because of what the kids and culture teach us.

The activities in the morning were the same groups.

Crafts made Easter bags with kids.

Music and games had laughter and poisonous frog game.

Sports did water balloon sling shot and large jump ropes.

The Jr high and High school kids “Secondario” go to school 7am to 2:45pm. We did activities with the primary kids for an hour, then they finished their daily chores, showered, ate lunch and off to Adoni Christian school in their uniforms and new Hogar de Amor school bus. Secondary school is 2pm till 7pm then they came home for dinner and bedtime.

Casa Leonel has most of the lemon paint on it, but man we wear yellow paint well in our hair and as new freckles! We were fed by house parents amazing enchiladas and very caliente chili sauce! The teens came and helped us paint the exterior. Also, a kind neighbor, Roberto, stopped by to help wherever he could for a few hours he had free. We re-screened several windows that had huge holes in them.

Sewing crew finished several curtains to hang in the kids bedrooms to block the hot, bright sun. We also made waterproof mattress covers for Casa Acuna, the kids 5 and under. We are gathering kids clothes that need mended to start on that.

Handy Andy and Scott met some new friends while fixing some plumbing. They have been doing electrical repair, toilet replacement, and sink repair. Home depot runs have their own magical stories about converting measurements from feet to meters and translation please!

We had a quick shower time and then were treated to an evening in Downtown Colima square. We shopped for candies, souvenirs, clothes, gifts, and ate delicious food at a fancy restaurant with a view.

Prayer requests; safety for our team, endurance—it’s Wednesday, grace with one another, and rest. Each one of us is really making a connection with each of the kids and learning about their individual stories. All the tangible donations we brought were given to the staff to utilize between the 10 homes.
