Monday: Day 2

Today was an another amazing and successful day, we got to hang out and and accomplish a lot of work that needed to be done.

Our morning started out with a market breakfast containing cereal and fruits and granola bars for people who wanted to get a quick breakfast which everyone enjoyed.

After breakfast we headed to the orphanage to start our day with the kids, today for crafts we made name tags so the kids would know who we were and we would know who they were. For music we played hot potato, Hosanna,, mi queirpo, and chicken dance which was an all favorite in my opinion. We had around 15 kids at the two stations and switched halfway through the time so we got an even amount of time with the kids between stations.

After crafts and music we headed over to Famoso and Golandrina’s for more crafts while people went shopping for supplies that we needed for work. The kids made necklaces with their name tag and added beads to the name tags to make it flashy.

Once the people who were shopping for supplies that’s when we started our work, we had three groups. One for roof sealant who came early before the sun to finish the hottest parts of the roof ad continued in the shaded parts once the sun started to appear and get them hot. Then we had another group who did painting and they painted the stairs in the backyard and the window bars in front of the screen. And the final group we had was on screening job and they replaced all the damaged screens in the house.

Then we went to Matriz and had tacos and beans made from the Matriz chef. Now we didn’t have lunch with the kids because some were headed to school and others were coming from school so it was just lunch with the team, but the food was amazing. We then went back to the house and continued working until 5 then went back to the hotel to hang out and have dinner.

Day 1:Sunday.

We made it throughout the first day! So busy so fun I couldn't have enjoyed it more.

The day started out with a nice breakfast in the Hotel's cafe, nice and fast with the group we have. After that we went to the market before church to enjoy the normal sunday adventure. It was really fun, got some fruits and vegetables and explored almost every small bodega in the market in about twenty minutes withought losing anyone. After that we headed to church to sing along or in this case listen along to the songs and then a beautiful sermon spoken by Pablo who did a wonderful job. Once church was gone some of us decided to go to Walmart while the others stayed at Matriz and hung out with the kids before we headed up to Monte Real for lunch with the caregives. Couldn't have been better, got up their with no driving problems, sat on the edge of the mountain looking down into the valley and had an amazing lunch. Even got diffrent family photos, a team photo and a photo with the team and the caregivers. After that we headed straight to Casa Cuna for the best little kid party. And that's exactly what we did, we got their saw the kids and had an amazing time. We played with balloons and bouncy balls and best and easiet of all a giant parachute, with pizza and soda for dinner. Then we went back to the hotel popped in the pool and showers and headed to bed.

Had and amazing day and tomorrow will be even better, prayer requests are that the activities and work goes smooth with no problems. Thanks for following along, see you next time!

Arrived!

Yay! We made it down to Mexico, no problems whatsoever which is a big win from past trips. Flight was nice and smooth and had a wonderful view the whole time.

Before flight got to get a team pick.

How beautiful is Mexico am I right.

Landed in Mexico!

Wow what a lot of luggage there is. Guess what? Half of those or donations for the orphanage. Isn’t that amazing!

And that’s about the whole day, we landed around 4 and drove the rest to the hotel and stopped for dinner on the way. New post tomorrow!

Back Again!

The last week has come. Our make up 2020 trip is leaving next Saturday to go down to Mexico and serve at an orphanage Hogar de Amor for a week. These 15 wonderful people have worked hard and been patient with Covid so we can visit Mexico safely and visit the kids. We’re so excited to be able to go down again with the team. For the people that can’t go you guys are still a big help to us.

If you want to be able to follow us through the trip we will have a blog posting everyday to keep you updated.

We always appreciate prayers for safe travel and good work towards the kids in the orphanage.

Since we are really close to going down to Mexico we will not take physical donations but your always to welcome to donate online (select Mexico Mission Trip as the fund) or make checks out to CenterPoint Church with a memo of "Mexico trip" and bring checks to church or mail them to the CenterPoint offices.

Thank you to the people that have supported and followed us through the amazing process of the team and church. We really appreciate your support and donations. Without you we would not be able to make this trip possible.

Some prayer requests:

  • We would quickly gel as a team and that a spirit of teamwork and service would infuse everything we do both before our trip and in Mexico.
  • Our families, church family, friends, and community would know that they are an integral part of this trip through their encouragement, prayer, and financial support.
  • Both we and those we serve will be transformed through our service.
  • Logistics simply work.  That health, transportation, lodging, dining, planning around our work projects, and the myriad of other details would reinforce, never detract from, God's work in and through us.

Our Trip is Postponed - But the Need Goes On!

With border closures and current health and safety conditions, are not able to visit Hogar de Amor this April. As a team, we are gutted. We love the kids and staff of Hogar de Amor deeply, and we are so sad to cancel this year's trip.

The need at Hogar de Amor continues whether we are there or not, and the kids are dealing with all of the same stresses, health concerns, and stir-craziness of at-home school that so many of the rest of us feel. We are so disappointed not be able to love and encourage them in-person, and we remain committed to helping to sustain the needs of the orphanage even though we aren't able to visit right now. We want to knock their socks off with a huge donation to help out in this time of difficulty!

Please think and pray about making a donation today to Hogar de Amor.

You can donate online at https://centerpointutah.org/giving (select Mexico Mission Trip as the fund) or make checks out to CenterPoint Church with a memo of "Mexico trip" and mail them to the CenterPoint offices. All gifts are tax-deductible.

Wondering how your gift can be used? Here are some examples of the orphanage’s needs:
  • $8 for 12 pairs of boys athletic socks
  • $15 for 8 pairs of kids’ underwear
  • $250 purchases sealant for one orphanage house roof to keep it water-tight
  • $50 buys 5 gallons of paint
  • $30 buys fabric for curtains for one room of the new adolescent boys’ home
  • $15 for 15 new kitchen towels
  • $15 purchases 2 packages of multi-symptom cold and flu medication
  • $10 buys a giant box of assorted Band-Aids
  • $200 pays for clothing, food, activities, housing, and school expenses for one child
And above all, please pray for Hogar de Amor. Pray for the kids' health and safety and continued emotional growth even in a tough time. Pray for the caregivers and volunteers at Hogar de Amor as they now need to provide schooling on-site in addition to all of their other responsibilities. Pray that each person at Hogar de Amor would feel God's love, every day.

Hogar de Amor Virtual Fundraiser!

We’ve decided to take our annual Hogar de Amor fundraiser online! Even though we can’t collect donations in-person at work or at church, that doesn’t change the needs that the kids of Hogar de Amor have, nor does it change our desire to knock their socks off with our love and generosity towards them!

We usually bring down multiple suitcases of donations every year - will you join us in blessing the kids and caregivers of Hogar de Amor with your generosity?

You can donate online at https://centerpointutah.org/giving (select Mexico Mission Trip as the fund) or make checks out to CenterPoint Church with a memo of "Mexico trip" and mail them to the CenterPoint offices. All gifts are tax-deductible.

Supporting Hogar de Amor

We are so excited about this year's trip to Hogar de Amor and wanted to invite you to support the kids and caregivers along with us. Each year we are able to bless the orphanage staff and kids with tons of donations - come join us!

How can you help?
  1. Pray pray pray!  Pray for the kids, the caregivers, the community, and the trip.
  2. Provide supply donations for the trip.  We are collecting coloring and activity books, colored pencils,  kitchen towels, hair brushes and barrettes, first aid supplies and medicines, and all sizes of children's and young adult underwear and socks.  You can give these items to Jamie or anybody going on the trip. If you are a regular attender of CenterPoint Church we will also have specific donation requests in the lobby before and after church in March.
  3. Financially support the trip's projects and the orphans of Hogar de Amor.  We will use these donations to purchase supplies for the trip and will donate the rest directly to the orphanage, so everything you give will help and encourage the kids of Hogar de Amor!  You can donate online (select Mexico Mission Trip as the fund) or make checks out to CenterPoint Church with a memo of "Mexico trip" and bring checks to church or mail them to the CenterPoint offices. All financial gifts are tax-deductible.
